Ego Resiliency in School-aged Children Correlates with Interpersonal Stress

Abstract

This study examined whether cognitive representations of mother as perceived by school-aged children have indirect effects on their interpersonal stress through ego-resiliency. The subjects were 318 sixth grade children selected from elementary schools in Daejeon. Statistical techniques were Pearson\'s correlation, simple and multiple regression. Findings were that (1) cognitive representations of mother were a significant predictor of interpersonal stress in school-aged children; (2) cognitive representations of mother were significant predictor of ego-resiliency in school-aged children; (3) cognitive representations of mother had an indirect impacts on interpersonal stress in school-aged children, which was mediated by their ego-resiliency.
