A Study of the Variables Influencing Adolescent\'s Anxiety

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the variables influencing adolescent\'s anxiety. The independent variables were individual variables, as well as family and school environmental variables. The subjects for this research comprised 1,064-1st and 2nd graders of several middle and high schools in Daegu. The major findings were as follows: First, adolescent\'s anxiety was affected by sex, age, academic self-esteem, social self-esteem and physical self-esteem in regards to individual variables. Second, adolescent\'s anxiety was affected by mother\'s attachment and father\'s attachment in terms of family environmental variables. Third, adolescent\'s anxiety was affected by peer acceptance, peer\'s attachment, delinquent experiences and teacher\'s support when it came to the issue of school environmental variables. Fourth, Individual variables were seen to have a great influence and impact upon on adolescent\'s anxiety, more so than any other variables.
