Parent Education Program Trends Using the Language Networks: An Analysis of 17 Provincial Offices of Education

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the trends of characteristics of parent education programs of 17 provincial Offices of Education, and to identify the way in which recent significant topics and directions appear in the programs. The language network content analysis technique was performed as a research method. According to NetMiner 4.3, morphological analysis, network analysis and a sociogram based on the Korean language were performed for the analytical method. The results of this study are as follows. First, of the 398 subjects, 100 meaningful topics of parents were selected which appeared 4,924 times. Second, as a result of visualization through the sociogram, unification, university, society, 4th revolution, personality, art and school appeared frequently. Third, an in-depth keyword analysis for a parent web cafe, blog and parent support center is further needed in the context of education, personality, family and understanding. This study demonstrates the trend of parent education programs with new subjects. In future research, various databases and big data need to be applied further.
