An Analysis on the Psychological Well-being and Influencing Factors of Single Mother Families with Adolescents

Abstract
The purposes of this study were to find the general trends and the differences of influencing factors of adolescents' psychological well-being and, to analyze the effects of individual, family, school-social environment variables on the psychological well-being in single mother family. The subjects were the 284 of adolescents living in Kwangju and Chonnam. The data were analyzed with frequency, t-Test, F-test, Pearsons' r, multiple regression by SPSS. The major findings were as follows; 1. Scores of single mother family with adolescents' individualvariables were higher than median, family variables were lower than median, and instrumental support is higher than emotional support. Single mother family with adolescents' psychological well-being was about median. 2. Single mother family adolescents' life satisfaction was significantly different from self-respect, problem-solving coping, family stress, family resources, mother-child conflicts, monthly income, instrumental support, emotional support, grade, satisfaction of friend relationship. Single mother family with adolescents' depression was significantly different from time after single mother family, self-respect, emotional coping, family stress, family resources, mother-child conflicts, monthly income, emotional support, grade, satisfaction of friend relationship. 3. Life satisfaction of single mother family with adolescents was influenced by self-respect, problem-solving coping, family stress, family resources, mother-child conflicts, instrumental support, emotional support, grade, satisfactionof friend relationship. Depression of single mother family with adolescents was influenced by time after single mother family, self-respect, emotional coping, family stress, family resources, mother-child conflicts, emotional support, grade, satisfaction of friend relationship. In conclusion, to develop single mother family with adolescents' psychological well-being, adolescents must be used individual, family, school-social environment variables and implications for alternatives to support adolescents from this study were provided.
