Abstract

To investigate the influence of childcare teachers’ basic psychological needs on their work engagement and to verify the moderating effect of social support in this relationship, a self-report questionnaire survey on basic psychological needs, work engagement, and social support was conducted on 257 childcare teachers in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions. The Collected data were analyzed using SPSS Win 19.0 and PROCESS macro 4.2(Model 1). The results are as follows. First, childcare teachers’ basic psychological needs had a positive main effect on work engagement, and social support had a positive effect on work engagement. Second, the interaction effects between basic psychological needs and social support on work engagement was statistically significant. These findings suggest that enhancing childcare teachers’ work engagement requires not only the strengthening of individual psychological resources but also the strategic provision of environmental job resources, such as social support. Furthermore, this study underscores the need for developing specific support programs that can effectively fulfill teachers’ basic psychological needs within the organizational context.
